BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 12, 2022) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Softball team (1-2) traveled up to Lynn University (3-2) on Saturday afternoon to take on the Fighting Knights in the first double-header of the season. The Bobcats took game one 5-1 but fell in game two 9-1. Game one served as Head Coach, J.C. Gutierrez's first career win as a head softball coach.

Game One Notes
- Erica Winter (1-1) got the starting nod and picked up her first win on the year.
- Lynn got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second on a Bobcat error.
- St. Thomas tied it up in the top of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly from Sarah Descheene to score Destiny Pacetti.
- Things opened up in the top of the fifth as the first homerun of the season comes in grand fashion off the bat of Daniela Bautista.
- Sofia Negron got the rally going with a one out single to left field.
- Gabriella Gilbert then doubles to left center to put two runners in scoring position.
- After a pitching change was made for the Fighting Knights, Deavyn McDade drew a walk to load up the bases.
- Bautista came to bat with two-outs and did not feel the pressure at all blasting a grand slam to out STU up 5-1.
- Winter threw a complete game allowing four hits, one run, two walks, and picking up three strikeouts.

Game Two Notes
- In game two, Abbigail Smith (0-1) got the start in the circle.
- With runners on the corner, Gabriella Gilbert and Kylie Chambers executed a first and third giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead with the double steal to score Chambers from third.
- Lynn came back to score five in the bottom half of the third to regain the lead and add some insurance.
- The Fighting Knights were able to close out the game scoring one in the bottom of the fifth and three in the six to take the game as a 9-1 final.

St. Thomas will rematch Florida National on the road on March 1 with a double-header scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
