MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 18-19, 2022) – The St. Thomas University Softball team (9-9, 1-2 SUN) took on their first Sun Conference series of the year, welcoming Warner University (12-14, 2-4 SUN) to Colonel Jacquelin J. Kelly Field on Friday evening for the first game and Saturday afternoon to finish with a double-header.

STU fell in game one as Warner worked their way out of a 5-0 deficit to take it 6-5 in extras. Game two went in favor of the Bobcats as they had another five-run outing while keeping the Royals scoreless. Game three went in favor to Warner 10-0 in five innings to clinch the series.

Game One Notes
- Daniela Bautista helped get the scoring going with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third to give STU a 1-0 lead.
- The Bobcats picked up four runs in the bottom of the fifth courtesy of a few Royals errors mixed with a couple base hits.
- STU led 5-0 heading into the sixth where Warner exploded and tied it up at five all.
- Warner scored on walks, singles, and Bobcat defensive miscues.
- With the Texas tie breaker in effect, Warner was able to take their first lead of the game in the top of the eighth and cruise to victory from there.

Game Two Notes
- Erica Winter got the nod for game two of the series looking to get redemption with the Warner hitters.
- Winter did so by throwing a complete game giving up just three hits, no run allowed, striking out five and only walking one.
- The offense took care of business tacking on five runs off seven hits.
- The defense cleaned it up not giving up one error in the game.
- Daniela Bautista continued to show off the bat consistency bringing in the first run of the game on a single up the middle to bring home Kylie Chambers from second.
- Chambers was the pinch runner for Deavyn McDade who had the one out double to start the inning in the bottom of the fourth.
- Nicole Heisler came in to pinch run for Bautista on second base.
- Heisler was a heads-up base runner and scored on a dropped on third strike as the Royals defense left home plate unoccupied trying to get Gilbert out at first.
- Sophia Negron had the hot bat going a perfect 3-for-3 and bringing home two on a two-RBI triple to left center.
- Oaskarley Ochoa brought in the final run with a ground ball to the second baseman to make it 5-0 and secure the win in game two.

Game Three Notes
- The rubber match had Kaitlin Spalding starting in the circle for the Bobcats.
- Warner put up runs in every inning to ultimately take the game in five innings to take the series 2-1 over St. Thomas.
- The Bobcats were held to just four hits while committing four errors in the final game.

St. Thomas will continue their home stand taking on Keiser University in Sun Conference action with a double header on Tuesday at 4/6 p.m. and the final game on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
