KISSIMMEE, Fla. (March 4, 2022) – The St. Thomas University Softball team opened Spring Break 2022 at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex participating in THE Spring Games hosted by PFX Athletics. The Bobcats picked up a pair of wins against Trinity International University (0-1) and University of Northwestern Ohio (1-2). Game one against TIU ended in five innings as STU run-ruled the Trojans. Game two had some last-minute heroics for St. Thomas as they came back down 3-0 to win 5-3.

Game One Notes vs. Trinity International (W, 10-0, 5 inn.)
- Erica Winter picked up her third win of the season with a five-inning one-hit shutout over the Trojans.
- The lone hit came in the top of the second, Winter then retired nine straight hitters.
- In the game Winter struck out five and did not allow a walk.
- Daniela Bautista was the highlight on the offensive end going 3-for-3 with two homeruns.
- Bautista drove in runs on a home run in the first, a home run in the third, and a single in the fourth.
- STU tallied five runs in the fourth inning. Oaskarley Ochoa, Deavyn McDade, Daniela Bautista, and Gabriella Gilbert all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Game Two Notes vs. Univ. of Northwestern Ohio (W, 5-3)
- Abbigail Smith threw her first complete game of the season and picked up her fwin in 2022.
- UNOH took an early 3-0 lead scoring two in the first and one in the second.
- Bautista continued to be an offensive spark this game going 4-for-4 with two more homeruns.
- A solo shot in the top of the fourth broke the egg on the scoreboard making it 3-1.
- A double to the fence from Deavyn McDade brought the deficit to just one in the fifth at 3-2.
- The hot bat of Bautista found the other side of the fence once more going straight away to center field to take a 4-3 lead over UNOH.
- Nicole Hauck scored on a wild pitch in the sixth for the insurance run and final score of 5-3.
- Smith went seven innings with five strikeouts not giving up a walk.

St. Thomas will continue to play in THE Spring Games tomorrow with another double-header starting at 9 a.m. against Siena Heights at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex. Game two is against Spring Arbor at 11:30 a.m.
