MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 22, 2022) - St. Thomas University (STU) Track & Field prepares to face the rest of the teams within the Sun-Conference. Here is what you should know to get you up to speed on how the season is currently going.
Men
The Bobcats have run some amazing time this season. Michael Smickle, for the competed at University of Miami and ran a time of 1:52.64 in the 800-meter and making him an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Nationals, as well as putting him at number one in the Nation (NAIA).
Isaac Joseph ran an outstanding time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.52 and 21.28 seconds in the 200-meters. Joseph qualified in both events with a National "A" standard.
Jonathan Memnon ran a new PR in the 800-meter a time of 1:59.60 seconds.
The relay team consisting of
Jonah Hill,
Isaac Joseph,
Marvin Williams, and
Guillaume Richards came in hot and crossed the finish line at 41.44 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay.
Marvin Williams made his debut in the 400-meters at the University of Miami 'Hurricane Invitational' running a time of 53.46 seconds and hitting NAIA "A" standard time.
Robert Pompey and
Jonah Hill both competed in the High Jump with Robert Jumping 1.92m (6ft3) and Jonah Jumping 1.87m (6ft1).
Women
Pamela Sanders-Booker in running the 400-meter for the second time this season ran 57.18 seconds, which automatically qualified her for the NAIA Nationals in the 400-meter.
Pamela Sanders-Booker has qualified for the NAIA Nationals in the 100-meter (12.12 seconds), 200-meter (24.93 seconds), 400-meter (57.12 seconds).
Naomi ran a season best of 5:42.53 seconds in the 1500-meter at the Ansin Track & Field Invitational.
Renice Dacres also has jumped 5.23m (17ft 2) in the Long Jump and jumped 11.36m (37ft 3.25) in the triple jump.
Jada Blackheart has been consistently dropping her times every opportunity presented to her. Blackheart has run at time of 59.82 seconds in the 400-meter and 2:35.76 in the 800-meter.
Chaunneese Newby also hit a new personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 11.18m (36ft 8.25).
the 4x100-meter team consisting of
Megan Sprinkman,
Pamela Sanders-Booker, Dai'ja Thompson, and
Jameka Chisholm has ran 48.01 seconds qualifying them for the NAIA "B" standard.
