Miami Gardens, Fla. – Showing what St. Thomas University student-athletes can do on the national stage this past weekend,
Nicholas Altheimer,
Kenzie Knowles and
Tonyan Beckford from the Track and Field program competed in their respective country's National Trials with each one advancing to the finals in their events.
Earning two chances to represent the United States of America at the USA U-20 Trials, Altheimer advanced to the finals in both the 100 and 200 meter events, both of which he won at the 2026 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Outdoor Championships. The NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year placed fourth in both meets, qualifying for the 4x100 Relay at the Junior World Games.
Competing in the Bahamas National Trials 400m event, Knowles made it through the preliminaries before finishing third in the final event. He is eligible to compete in either the Commonwealth Games of the CAC Games.
Running for a chance to represent Jamaica in the 400m event at their U-20 Trials, Beckford qualified for the finals where she placed seventh.
The Bobcats are not done on the National Stage, with
Elijah Smith set to compete in the Sr. USA National Trials in July.
