HIALEAH, Fla. (April 6, 2022) - The receiving votes (RV) St. Thomas University Men's Tennis team (14-7, 2-3 SUN) came back to the Sunshine State looking to continue their winning ways. The Bobcats defeated Florida National University (4-8) in a clean sweep of 4-0 as the teams were playing to clinch. The Bobcats have now won eight of their last ten and ride a three match win streak.
Doubles Play
- Jacob Turley and Luis Leon took the first court of the game winning court two doubles 6-1.
- Florida National then took court three to make it an even 1-1 in doubles putting the pressure on court one for the doubles point.
- Thomas Andrews and Lucas Ribas then clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court one.
Singles Play
- With the 1-0 lead and momentum from the doubles play, Andrews went on to take court three to start singles defeating Gentile, 6-3 6-0.
- Reigning Sun Conference Player of the Week, Alessandro Tabares, went on to sweep court one 6-3 6-2 to put STU one court win away from the match sweep.
- Juan Patino Pabon closed the match with a court five three set victory, 6-1 4-6 10-5.
- The Bobcats sweep the season series against Florida National.
