MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 7, 2022) - The St. Thomas University Women's Flag Football team (6-3, 5-3 SUN) wins in dominating fashion over Webber International University (6-5, 2-5 SUN), 25-6. The Bobcats have secured their second straight appearance at the Sun Conference Tournament. St. Thomas sweeps the home-and-home series over the Warriors.

St. Thomas got on the board first with a touchdown from none other than Rayonna Baker, who had the game-winning catch against Warner in the final play of the game last week. Tyler Bryant had the extra point for the early 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

The second quarter was silent for both sides as the Bobcats failed to score in the red zone. The game was delayed at halftime due to inclement weather and was resumed an hour later.

The delay gave the Warriors a little boost scoring their first touchdown of the game but failed the extra point attempt to make it 7-6.

Julianne Yulkowski turned up the offense for STU in the fourth quarter throwing two touchdown passes. The first one was another connection to Baker who caught a 10-yard pass and scored the insurance pass. This put STU up 13-6 after the failed extra point attempt.

Kailey Miller quickly got the defense off the field with an interception that was taken back for 10-yards, keeping it alive with a flea flicker pass to Mayerli Cayon for a couple extra yards. This set up the offense for an easy touchdown two plays later as Yulkowski connected with a familiar face in Destynne Francois for the 22-yard touchdown.

St. Thomas then put the game to bed as Holly Neher found Tyler Bryant at the two-minute mark for the 10-yard touchdown reception. No extra point was needed as STU hit the was up 25-6 which was enough to call the game early.

Miller led the defense with nine flag pulls, an interception and a pass break up that could have also been another interception. Dejonice Parris had two sacks with two flag pulls and three pass breakups. Tashumba Washington, reigning Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week picked up another interception and returned it for 55-yards.

Yulkowski went 17-for-29 in pass completions for 165-yards, three touchdowns, and an extra point completion. Karyssa Dolce had five receptions for 40-yards. Baker had two catches, both for touchdowns on 18-yards. Bryant was the only player with a touchdown and extra point.

The next matchup for STU will be against Battle of Miami Gardens rival, Florida Memorial on Wednesday, April 20.
