MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 14, 2022)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team defeated one of the Sun Conference leaders, the Webber International Warriors in commanding fashion.
Milton Matthews was a highlight reel with twenty-two-points, and the Bobcats in total had four different players with double digit points.
Â
STU started the game fast getting off to an early ten-point lead.
Fred Mulbah extended the lead even more by driving to the net with the Warrior defenders surrounding him, and getting one to fall. D'andre Johnson kept the ball rolling, finding himself all alone, and draining the three ball.Â
Â
Right after the Johnson three,
Fred Mulbah drove to the net once again for the easy bucket. The Warriors were able to make the deficit single digits, but D'andre Johnson hit a jumper just outside the paint to make it a double-digit game once again.Â
Â
The game slowed down on both sides, with no points being scored for three minutes.
Milton Matthews made his presence known, making a long jumper. With three and a half minutes remaining in the first half,
Jordan Hernandez worked his way to the line, making both, to give the Bobcats their biggest lead of the night.Â
Â
To end the first half,
Dalon Dean drilled one from behind the arch, followed by
Milton Matthews hitting a three with seconds left on the clock.Â
Â
Milton Matthews wasted no time getting the second half started, draining another one from deep. About a minute later, Matthews showed he is an all-around player, getting an offensive rebound, and banking it off the glass and in for another score.Â
Â
The Warriors were persistent about getting back into the game, but STU did their best to not let that happen.
Dalon Dean drained another three just after the warriors hit one of their own. The Warriors made it a seven-point game, and just as they were getting some momentum,
Jordan Hernandez hit another from behind the arch with hands in his face.Â
Â
The Bobcats really put a stamp on this one reaching a twenty-four-point lead with four and a half minutes to play.
James Harris III checked in late immediately hitting back to back from three-point land to end the game with a final score of 83-56.Â
