MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 21, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team defeated the Florida Memorial Lions in commanding fashion. The Bobcats saw scoring from up and down the roster, with five different players scoring double digit points.
Â
The game started fast once again for the Bobcats with
Dalon Dean setting the tone with a three. We have seen time and time again this year if STU sets the pace of the game early, they are hard to stop. A few minutes later,
Milton Matthews got on the board with a shot just inside the three-point line.Â
Â
The Bobcats went on a two-minute scoring drought, but
Justyn Rogers tried his luck behind the arch, and drained it. The Lions took a three-point lead, and just when it looked like the Bobcats were going to slow down a little,
Dalon Dean drove to the net banking it in.Â
Â
This was a typical rivalry game in the first half, and was back and forth.
Kyle Feldman checked in and immediately made his presence known. Feldman made back to back buckets by driving to the net for highlight reel lay ins.
Joshua Thrower gave STU a five-point lead by working his way to the line making both.Â
Â
More time went by, with strong defense on both ends of the court.
Kyle Feldman broke the silence again by getting fouled and heading to the line. Nearing the end of the first half,
D'Andre Johnson drove to the net for the easy layup, followed by hitting a three less than a minute later.
Kyle Feldman had the gym rocking getting two more highlight reel lay ins back to back to give the Bobcats the 49-38 lead at the half.
Â
Never letting off the gas pedal in this one,
Milton Matthews got the second half started drilling a contested three.
Fred Mulbah kept it going, hitting one of his signature jumpers. About a minute later,
Dalon Dean hit another three to keep the eleven-point lead. Time would pass with the Bobcats in full control, a
Milton Matthews three would give STU their largest lead of the night (fifteen points).Â
Â
STU never stopped their attack, and worked the point margin to thirty-points. The Bobcats never got off the game plan tonight and it showed. A milestone was also achieved in today's game with
Milton Matthews getting to 300 points this season, in 15 games.
