MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 7, 2022)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team defeated the Southeastern University Fire 66-48. The Bobcats were led by D'andre Johnson with 23 points and 7 rebounds.

The game started slow on both sides, with the first basket being scored by
James Harris III of STU. A little while later,
Joshua Thrower hit a jumper just outside the paint to go up four. The fire went on to tie the game, but
Dalon Dean made his own room hitting a jumper to take the lead once again.Â

The Bobcats went on a six to nothing run and started to take control of the game. The Fire would then go on a run of their own and tie the game up half way through the first half.
Dalon Dean drilled a wide-open shot from behind the arch to break the lead, followed by another three from
Justyn Rogers.Â

The Fire worked their way back to within two, but the Bobcats went on another run, this time scoring nine unanswered points. The first half ended with the Fire getting a layup to fall, and D'andre Johnson hitting another from deep to give STU the lead at the half.Â

The second half started like the first, with a basket not being scored until around three minutes in.
Joshua Thrower got one to fall after being surrounded by the Fire Defenders. About a minute later,
Dalon Dean hit a contested three, followed by another three, to give the Bobcats the control they were looking for.Â

STU went on a run to get their longest lead of the night which was nineteen points. The Bobcats took control and never lost it again in this one. The Bobcats went on to win the game without ever letting the lead drop to bellow double digits.Â
