(October 19, 2023) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Head Track and Field Coach, Joey Scott, has been announced as the coach of the British Virgin Islands' track and field team for the 2023 Pan-American Games in Santiago, Chile. This prestigious appointment has been made following Coach Scott's remarkable track record and marks Coach Joey Scott's third appearance at the Pan-American Games. 

The Pan-American Games, often regarded as the most significant multi-sport event in the Americas, is an arena where the continent's top athletes showcase their talents.i The 2023 edition of this grand competition will be hosted by Chile, marking the first time in history that the country has been selected to host the event.ii The games will bring together exceptional athletes and coaches from across the continent. 

Joey Scott's selection for the position of the British Virgin Islands coach is a testament to his illustrious coaching career. Coach Scott, who has previously served as the British Virgin Islands' coach, also recently completed a successful 16th World Championship campaign, representing Haiti. Under his guidance, one of his athletes earned a silver medal.
