MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 2, 2023) - The #25 St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team will kick-off week four of Sun Conference play this Wednesday with a home match up against
Ave Maria University. The Bobcats will then head down the road on Saturday to face
Florida Memorial University for the second time.
The Bobcats will match up against
Ave Maria University for the first time this season on Wednesday, October 5th at 7 p.m. at AutoNation Field. The Bobcats have only lost to the Gyrenes twice in series history and at their last matchup in 2022, they tied for the first time in series history, 1-1. The overall series record has the Bobcats leading 13-2-1. Ave Maria has an overall record of 3-2-4 this season and a conference record of 1-2-3. This season, the Gyrenes have defeated
Florida Memorial University and have tied against
#11 Keiser University,
Webber International University, and
Warner University. The Bobcats will head to Ave Maria, Fla. to play the Gyrenes on Wednesday, October 25th at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, October 7th at 11 a.m. the Bobcats will head down the road to Dr. Lester Brown Park where they will face
Florida Memorial University for the second time this season. In their last matchup, the Bobcats defeated the Lions 2-0 at AutoNation Field. The Lions are currently 2-6-2 this season with a conference record of 0-6. They will face Webber International University at home on Wednesday prior to hosting the Bobcats.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Gabrielle Cimino and Bryanna Alzate are the leading scorers for the Bobcats this season, each with three goals. Both Cimino and Alzate picked up goals in their latest match against #11 Keiser University and are in the Top 5 this season in shots, Cimino with 33 and Alzate with 13.
- Isabella Penaranda continues to be elite in goal, notching another shutout last weekend against Keiser. She also recorded four saves against #8 SCAD-Savannah and five against Keiser.
- Megan Velazquez picked up her first goal of the season this week on the road at Keiser. Velazquez is also third this season in shots for the Bobcats with 17.
Next week, the Bobcats will host
#14 Southeastern University on Wednesday, October 11th at 7 p.m. before heading to Babson Park, Fla. to face
Webber International University on Saturday, October 14th, at 7 p.m.
