STU Football Breaks Point Record Against Nighthawks on Senior Day

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 11, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Football team set another record in 2023. The Bobcats put up the most points in program history against the Thomas University Nighthawks. Kendall Wilson II also broke the record for most tackles in program history. STU will find out tomorrow if they get selected into the NAIA playoffs for the first time since introducing football in 2019.
 
The opening drive saw quarterback Keely Watson connecting with David Hayes for an impressive 20-yard touchdown pass, marking the beginning of a relentless offensive onslaught. Alejandro Prado's accurate kick added the extra point, putting STU in an early 7-0 lead. The following possessions only reinforced STU's control over the game.
 
Rontavious Farmer extended the lead with a powerful 1-yard run into the end zone, and Ashton Davis added another 6-yard rushing touchdown, both accompanied by successful kicks from Alejandro Prado. The first quarter concluded with STU comfortably ahead at 21-0.
 
The second quarter witnessed more offensive brilliance from STU, with Keely Watson and David Hayes connecting once again for a 42-yard touchdown pass. Two more rapid touchdowns followed, courtesy of David Hayes and Khalitri Zow, leaving the opposing team trailing far behind with a score of 42-0 at halftime.
 
The third quarter unfolded in a similar fashion, with STU continuing to showcase their offensive diversity. Touchdowns from Trevor Phillips, Rontavious Farmer, Ty'Quan Wiggins, and C'quan Jnopierre highlighted the team's ability to score in various ways. By the end of the third quarter, STU had accumulated an astonishing 70 points while keeping their opponent scoreless.
 
In the final quarter, STU maintained their momentum, adding two more touchdowns to their tally. Jaelyn Thomas secured a 1-yard rushing touchdown, and Jerome Mitchell Jr. electrified the crowd with a dazzling 60-yard punt return for a touchdown, showcasing the team's excellence in both offense and special teams.
 
Alejandro Prado's consistent accuracy in extra point kicks contributed significantly to STU's commanding 84-0 victory. The STU football team's performance was nothing short of remarkable, leaving fans exhilarated and opponents in awe of their collective talent and coordination.
