Men's Soccer Set to Face Off Against Vikings in NAIA Championships

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 27, 2023) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team headed up to the cold in Wichita, Ks. for the NAIA National championships. The Bobcats have already faced some of the elements, so much that the NAIA moved the games to an indoor facility.
 
After defeating Menlo in the second round, the Bobcats will now face off against #12 Missouri Valley, after they defeated Cumberlands 6-3 in the second round. Missouri Valley is a talented group with athletes across the board. The Vikings sit with an overall record of 14-5 and 9-2 in their respective conference. A player STU has to keep an eye on is Yoshiki Igarashi. Igarashi is a scoring machine with 16 goals on the season.
 
The Bobcats have set an incredible record of scoring 4814 goals throughout their season, showcasing their exceptional goal-scoring ability. With an average of 2.4 goals per game, their opponents knew they were up against a formidable force.
 
They also have an impressive shot count of 347. Their offensive power was evident, with an average of 17.4 shots per game. The team's shot percentage was an impressive 13.8%, highlighting their accuracy in finding the back of the net.
 
Their opponents, who were about to face the St. Thomas soccer team, knew they had a challenging task ahead. With a shot count of 161, averaging at 8.1 shots per game, they had to find a way to defend against the relentless St. Thomas offense.
