MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (November 28, 2023) - The. St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team faced Florida National University for the second time this season, defeating them once again, this time with the home court advantage. With the final score of 87-60, the Bobcats dominated the Conquistadors, maintaining the lead for the entirety of the game. 

The first quarter set the tone for the game, with the Bobcats leading 23-18. The star of the quarter was Camilla Flefil, who came off the bench in spectacular fashion, sinking three three-pointers and contributing 9 crucial points. Paige McDonald added 6 points to the tally, and the team ended the quarter with a respectable 40% field goal percentage. 

As the second quarter unfolded, the Bobcats exploded onto the court, scoring 23 points in the first five minutes alone. By the end of the quarter, they had amassed a commanding lead of 53-28. Brooke Bogatz emerged as the leading scorer in the first half with an impressive 18 points. Ra'Nae Tumblin dominated the boards with 7 rebounds, while Bria Brown showcased her playmaking skills with 6 assists. The team maintained a remarkable 61.9% field goal percentage in the second quarter, entering halftime with a comfortable 25-point lead. 

The third quarter saw the Bobcats continue to dominate, finishing with a score of 68-41 and extending their lead to 27 points. The Conquistadors struggled to close the gap as the Bobcats showcased their skill and teamwork on the court. 

Heading into the final quarter with a substantial lead, the Bobcats maintained their momentum. The game concluded with a final score of 87-60, securing a decisive victory for the Bobcats. Sophie Vandyke delivered an outstanding performance, recording a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. In the last quarter, Vandyke added 7 more points to her total during quarter four and Bogatz finished with a total of 26 points, leading the team to victory. 

The Bobcats displayed dominance and consistency throughout the game, holding the lead for the entirety of the match up. The players' individual contributions, coupled with their collective effort, showcased the strength and skill of the Bobcats. This win brings the Bobcats record to 5-2. 

Up next, the Bobcats will head to Boca Raton, Fla. to face off against Florida Atlantic University. This match up will take place on Tuesday, December 5th at 7 p.m.
