LAKELAND, Fla. (February 2, 2023)- St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team was defeat by the #16 Vanguard University in the first game of the East/West Challenge. With only three less hits than the Lions, the Bobcats just couldn't find a way to get baserunners across, and couldn't stop the bleeding in the field. 
 
 
Game Notes

• In the Bottom of the second, Vanguard hit a two-run homer, to take an early 2-0 lead.
• Top of the second, Angelo Piloto made it a one score game with a homerun to center.
• The Lions homered again in the bottom of the second
• After a scoreless third, Brian Garcia hit a home run to right field scoring Chris Scholler and tying it up a three.
• In the bottom of the fifth, Vanguard picked up five more runs.
•  The top of the sixth, Kendry Noriega singled to left field scoring Matt Granato. 
• Vanguard put on three more in the bottom of the seventh. 
• The Bobcats couldn't stop the bleeding in bottom of the eighth inning, allowing three more runs to score. 
• And the game would end in the top of the ninth, as the Bobcats couldn't pull off any last inning magic.
