Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. (February 9, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team was defeated by Southeastern in overtime. The Bobcats and Fire were tied for first in the Sun Conference, and this one came down to the wire.Â

The Bobcats started off hot getting out to an early lead 12-7. STU then slowed down a bit, not scoring for two minutes allowing the Fire to catch up.
Jordan Hernandez, and
Milton Matthews drilled back to back from behind the arch to get some separation. Nearing the end of the first half the Bobcats worked the lead all the way to 33-21, and would keep this lead into the locker room.Â

Southeastern started the second half strong trying to shorten the deficit. Despite the pressure from the Fire offense, STU was able to keep scoring.
Dalon Dean, and then
Fred Mulbah got back to back layups, giving the Bobcats one of their largest leads of the night 43-29. With about nine minutes left, Southeastern got to within one with the Bobcats offense struggling. With three minutes to go,
Fred Mulbah worked his way under the basket giving STU the one-point lead. After going down one,
James Harris III sent the game to overtime with a free throw.Â

The Fire took control early in overtime, but the Bobcats didn't back down. Working his way to the line once again,
Fred Mulbah tied it up at 64. Some more back and forth would happen with both teams being tied once again at 71. With seventeen seconds left the Fire were able to get one to fall and the Bobcats couldn't come up with any last second magic.
