MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (March 31, 2023) - The Sun Conference continues to show off its toughness as the best compete within each other in conference play. St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Tennis (13-3, 1-3 SUN) took a tough fall to no. 8 SCAD-Savannah in Friday afternoon at home.
St. Thomas started out on top winning the doubles point to take the advantage into singles. The Bobcats took courts 1 and 3. Isabella Ciancaglini-Ribera and Carme Ibáñez Núñez secured the first doubles court at 6-4 on 1. Annie Carrera and Li Peña fell simultaneously on 2 4-6. Jameson Geoffreys and Jenesie Burgos secured the point with a 7-5 win on 3.
The Bees took the first three singles courts to take a 3-1 lead in the match. Ciancaglini-Ribera made it 3-2 with a win in 4 in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.
SCAD secured the match victory with a win on 5 2-6, 3-6. Burgos picked up the final singles point on court 6 in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
St. Thomas will be right back at in for more Sun Conference play taking on (RV) Coastal Georgia.
