AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 5, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team defeated the #5 Bellevue Bruins for the second straight game. Richard Sanchez had a solid day on the mound, going three innings with five strikeouts, and only allowing one hit. Omar Baldo had two hits with one RBI at the dish, and Kevin Moreno homered once again, along with four RBI's.
 
Game Notes
 

• After a quiet first three innings from both sides with the pitchers holding strong, Rey Hernandez broke the silence in the bottom of the fourth, knocking one to the right fielder allowing Kendry Noriega to come across the plate. 1-0 STU
• The flood gates opened in the bottom of the fifth as the Bobcats loaded the bases, which gave Kevin Moreno a chance in the box. Moreno seized the opportunity, hitting a grand slam over the left field wall.  5-0 STU
• The Bruins scored two runs in the top of the sixth, which would be their only two of the ball game.
• Nearing the end, in the bottom of the eighth the Bobcats notched two more to seal the victory. With two on, Omar Baldo hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field, which scored Rey Hernandez.
• Staying in the bottom of the eighth, Joey Thompson drilled one up the middle, bringing Edward Mateo home. 7-2 STU
• In the top of the ninth Luis Berrios would strike out two of four batters to give the Bobcats the win 7-2.
