MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 15, 2023)- The St. Thomas University Baseball team split game one and two with the number 1 team in the nation Southeastern Fire. In game one, 
Chase Chatman earned the victory for the Bobcats pitching five innings with seven strikeouts.
 
Game One
	- The Fire got out to an early lead in the top of the first scoring one.
- In the bottom of the first Kendry Noriega walked, followed by a Chris Schoeller walk. Robin Fernandez stepped in the box and drilled one over the right field wall for the 3 run blast. 3-1 STU
- The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Angelo Piloto knocked one over the batter's eye, bringing in Chris Schoeller who singled in an earlier bat.
- Southeastern made it a game scoring two in the top of the fourth, but the Bobcats still led 5-3
- In the top of the fifth the Fire tacked on one more to make it a one run game with lots of baseball to play.
- Richard Sanchez stepped on the mound in the top of the seventh, and in the top of the eighth with the Fires heart of the lineup he struck out three in a row.
- In the bottom of the eighth STU left some runners stranded unable to score, but in the top of the ninth, the fielding held strong as Lucas Lopez at short flipped it to Chris Schoeller at second then got it to first for the double play to end it. Bobcats 5 Fire 4.
 
 
Game Two
	- This one was scoreless until the Fire were able to homer to left field to go up 1-0.
- In the bottom of the third Joey Thompson tripled down the right field line, and Lucas Lopez drove him in with a single up the middle. Tied 1-1.
- In the top of the fourth, Southeastern was able to tack on another to make it 2-1.
- Some good pitching would lead to no runs being scored until the top of the sixth when the Fire hit another homer to take a 3-1 lead.
- The whole game was close until the Fire put up 5 more runs in the top of the ninth to take game two by a score 9-1.
