Regular Season Finale Ends in Tenth Straight Victory as Bobcats Set Eyes to Postseason

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 22, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Flag Football team defeated the Keiser University Seahawks in the final game of the 2023 regular season. It is the most games won by the Bobcats in a single season, and their tenth straight victory.

The Bobcats would open up with the ball to start the game, but it would result in a punt after four plays. The first Seahawk possession ended in the interception by Tashumba Washington and returned 18 yards before she pitched it to Kayla Alverez who picked up an additional 3 yards.

With great field position, STU went 34 yards in four plays in just under two minutes. The drive was capped off as Jada Graham rushed it 1 yard for the touchdown. The extra point from Holly Neher to Tashumba Washington would make it 7-0 Bobcats.

Keiser would find the end zone in their next position on an eleven play a 66 yard play. A couple of back and forth possessions led to no scoring from both sides but midway through the second quarter STU took the lead when Holly Neher hit Rayonna Baker for a 4 yard touchdown pass giving the Bobcats the lead 13-0 after the failed extra point attempt.

The STU defense came up big on the next Seahawk possession stopping them in five plays. That stop would result in more points for the Bobcats when Kailey Miller found herself wide open receiving a pass from Neher and taking it 32 yards to the house. The extra point was good from another Neher pass, this time to Rayonna Baker, 20-7 Bobcats.

The Seahawks open up with the ball to start the second half, but Tyler Bryant picked off the quarterback to get the ball back to the offense. The drive went nowhere for STU, but the very next Keiser possession resulted in another interception, this time by Tashumba Washington. With just the fourth quarter left to play the Bobcats came up huge in defense stopping the Keiser offense three times in just the fourth quarter to walk away with the victory 20-7 Bobcats.
