THOMASVILLE, Ga. (April 29, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Flag football team beat the Keiser University Seahawks for the second time in a row, this time in the Sun Conference Tournament, to advance to the Championship game against Thomas University. Holly Neher had 28 completions for 331 yards, and 4 touchdowns.
 
The Bobcats were first to strike, scoring in their second possession of the game. In a six play 33 yard drive, Holly Neher hit Kayla Alvarez for a 29 yard catch and run touchdown to make it 7-0 early. The Bobcat defense held strong early stopping the first few Seahawk possessions in 8 plays or less.
 
The very next Seahawk drive however, would result in a touchdown. Keiser was not able to notch the crucial extra point, and the Bobcats still led by a point 7-6. Not backing down, the Bobcats offense went on an 11 play, 66 yard drive that was capped off with a Neher pass to Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Year Jada Graham, who took it 31 yards to the house to make it 13-6 after the failed extra point.
 
In the very next Seahawk possession, they would tie it up at 13 all with 30 seconds remaining in the first half. With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Bobcats took the lead. Laniyah Leon intercepted the Seahawk QB, taking it 18 yards for the score to give the Bobcats the lead 19-13.
 
With just a little over three minutes remaining in the game, Keiser tied it at 19 on a 9 play 59 yard drive. The no quit Bobcat team had other plans though. Marching all the way down the field, Holly Neher would find Kailey Miller for a 5 yard touchdown pass to make it 25-19 STU.
 
A fast drive by the Seahawks would tie the game at 25 with just under three minutes to play, and we had a game on our hands. In 5 plays, and 56 yards, the Bobcats Offense did the unthinkable, and took the lead 31-25 off a Holly Neher pass to Kailey Miller, who took it 22 yards to the end zone. 14 seconds wouldn't be enough time for the Seahawks and STU would punch their ticket to the Sun Conference Championship game.
