Game Three Victory Leads to Series Victory Over Keiser

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (April 29, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team took two of the three in the series against the (RV) Keiser University Seahawks. After falling just short in game two, the Bobcats bounced back in game three to take the Sun Conference series.

Game Two

  • In the bottom of the first, Kendry Noriega knocked a double, that scored Brian Garcia who doubled right before, from second. 1-0 STU.

  • The game was a pitchers dual until the fifth inning when Keiser took the lead 2-1.

  • In the bottom of the fifth Chris Schoeller would tie the game at two with a sac fly that gave Brian Garcia enough time to come across.

  • In the bottom of the sixth, the Bobcats took the lead. Rey Hernandez hit a solo shot to left field, for his second of the series. Joey Thompson put the Bobcats up 4-2 when the Seahawk catcher made a throwing error, and he was able to score from third.

  • The Seahawks were able to make it a one run game in the top of the seventh.

  • Things kind of got away for a bit, and Keiser took the lead 6-4 in the top of the ninth.

  • Kendry Noriega was able to hit a single up the middle and score Brian Garcia, but it wouldn't be enough, and STU would lose 6-5.

Game Three

  • The Seahawks jumped out the early lead 2-0 in the top of the first, and it looked like they had the momentum carrying over from game two.

  • Not so fast, as Robin Fernandez stepped up in the bottom of the first with two on, and drilled a double scoring both to make it 2-2 early.

  • The game would remain the same until the bottom of the third, when Chris Schoeller hit a double of his own, that brought Joey Thompson around to make it 3-2 STU.

  • In the bottom of the fourth, Franklin Pinales Jr. made it 4-2 knocking a long home run of the scoreboard in left.

  • Staying in the fourth, with the base's loaded Chris Schoeller was hit by a pitch, and Lucas Lopez would score to make it 5-2.

  • The score remained the same until the Seahawks scored one in the top of the seventh to make it a two-score game.

  • Omar Baldo in the bottom of the seventh, got a single to go up the middle that would score pinch runner Pablo Delgado. 6-3 STU.

  • Carlos Polanco would then go three up and three down in the top eighth and ninth to give the Bobcats the series victory.
