MOBILE, Ala. (May 18, 2023) – Another historic season has come to an end as the St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Tennis team (15-11) falls to the reigning National Champions and no. 2 seed, Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies, 4-0 in the NAIA Round of 16.
St. Thomas made it to the national tournament for the second time in. three seasons clinching the 15th seed in the tournament via an at-large bid. In their opening match, St. Thomas won just their second game in program history, the first being in 2011.
Coming in against the Grizzlies the Bobcats started the match on Wednesday afternoon which was then delayed for the second straight day after doubles play. Georgia Gwinnett took the first point before the lightning delay and rain that suspended play until Thursday morning.
