MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (June 30, 2023) – St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball Head Coach,
Patrick Crarey II, has been named a Guest Coach for the San Antonio Spurs Summer League roster.
Other guest coaches are from professional teams in Australia, Slovenia and Uganda.
Spurs Summer League Starts July 3 in Sacramento they will play two games there then head to Las Vegas July 7 for summer league.
The basketball world has had their eyes on the Spurs since the team won the no. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft Lottery. With that pick, they secure the France phenom, 19-year old Victor Wembanyama who is set to start his NBA career in the 2023-24 season and will join the team for summer league play in Las Vegas.
Coach Crarey will be assisting the Spurs with all aspects of practice, workouts, games, and meetings.
"I am so excited and thankful to be assisting with a world class organization like the San Antonio Spurs this summer," stated Coach Crarey. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn and grow in the game of basketball. Being able to connect with great coaches and players from around the world, is going to be special. If it means grabbing rebounds or wiping the floor, I am looking forward to doing whatever I can to make a positive impact on our summer league team. I am Just very thankful for the next few weeks, and I look forward to representing the great institution of St. Thomas University each day."
Coach Crarey is coming off his second year with the Bobcats where he took the team to the furthest finish in program history at the NAIA Round of 16, had two players named NAIA All-America Honorable Mentions, tied the single season program record in wins (26), picked up his fifth career 20-plus win season, and added to his total of professional Bobcats with the recent signing for
D'Andre Johnson.
