After a 5-2 run to open the match, MBU was able to close the gap and bring it within one. Continuing to rally back and forth, the Spartans closed out the sett with a three-point run.

In the second and third set, St. Thomas locked in and used the battle from set one to take back-to-back sets. The Spartans did not back down, rallying back to tie it up at 15 all. In an exchange of back and forth to 20, a MacAskill kill and MBU error gave STU a two-point advantage. Dennis closed out the set with a statement kill down the center of the court to even the match up.

Dennis continued with the momentum in set three scoring the first point of the set and getting a block and another pair of kills as the Bobcats assembled for a 5-0 run at 9-7.
