All Eyes On Saturday as Bobcats Host Eagles to Kick Off 2023 Season

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (August 24, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Football team is set for their first game of the 2023 campaign on Saturday against Fort Lauderdale University. The Bobcats head into their fifth year as a program ranked  #14 which is the highest ranking in program history, and will look to build off the back to back 9-2 seasons.

As we enter the fifth season, with many of the Bobcats who built this program graduating, you may think this team will lack in experience. The answer is no, the Bobcats are returning many of their key difference makers. They will retain all but one of their starting offensive lineman, something that has made such a difference in this run heavy scheme. This will be monumental with one of the nations' best backs in Rontavious Farmer ramped up for his third season at STU.

The Bobcats have the same weapons on the offensive side of the ball with the two best receivers from the last two seasons, Khalitri Zow and C'Quan Jnopierre. Zow and Jnopierre have combined for over 1,500 yards in two seasons. Jnopierre has also been an electric return man, with 382 yards on the kickoff, and 127 yards from punt returns.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bobcats aren't going anyway. Three of the four All-Conference defensive lineman are returning in Nick Engler, Kahlill Bryan, and Donnell Bennett III. The Bobcats locked the trenches down last season behind these guys, to really make the whole defense a top defense in the country.

Fort Lauderdale pays a visit to AutoNation to kick off the 2023 season for STU. The Bobcats traveled to the Eagles in 2021, and immediately took the game over. The Eagles were on the wrong side in that one, but were a first year program still trying to figure things out, so expect them to be more established here to kick off the 2023 season.
