Scott Named Team Haiti Head Coach for 2023 Outdoor World Championships

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (August 7, 2023) - St. Thomas University (STU) Head Track and Field Coach, Joey Scott, has been named the Haiti National Team Head Coach for the 2023 Outdoor World Championships. This year, the World Championships will be held in Budapest, Hungary from August 19 to August 27.

Scott was named the leader of the Bobcat Track and Field programs at the start of the summer but has been with the program since the start in 2018.

This will be the the 17th time that Scott has coaches at a World Championship, the 9th outdoor one. He has been coaching with Team Haiti since 2018. As the Head Coach, Scott is the leader of the team and will be overlooking each event, while dedicating time primarily to the hurdlers. As the team leader, he will also over the logistical operations of the team.

In addition to Team Haiti, Scott will have different athletes that he trains and helped qualify to the world championships, represent other countries.

"Being selected to be the team leader and head coach for team Haiti at the 2023 World Championships held in Budapest, Hungary, is not only a major blessing but also a huge accomplishment for me. I am exited to represent St. Thomas University to the best of my ability," said Coach Scott. "This is a major stepping stone for the track and field program not only getting national exposure but also being recognized internationally as well."
