MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (September 2, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Soccer team is off to a hot start this season defeating the fifth ranked Lindsey Wilson by a score of 3-1. This was a big game for STU, as the Blue Raiders knocked them out of the playoffs in 2022.

Just thirteen minutes into the game, the Bobcats were all over the Blue Raiders. After being in their end for a few minutes, STU drew a corner.
Guido Cacciabue knocked one on a perfect line, and Mark Oghogho jumped over the defense and directed the ball beautifully in the bottom left of the net to make it one to nil.

Time would pass with both squads playing the physical game you would expect in this type of game. The Bobcats pushed the physicality a little passed the line and took a penalty in the box. The Blue Raiders capitalized on the opportunity to tie it up putting the penalty kick in a spot where
Franco Acerbi had little chance.

The tables turned once again at the very beginning of the second half. Lindsey Wilson made the same mistake, taking a penalty inside the box.
Guido Cacciabue made them pay for it getting the penalty passed the keeper to give STU the lead back.

After the early action play would be very tight from here on out. However, with three minutes remaining in the game, the Bobcats drew another corner, and after a scramble in front
Angelo Bernandes was able to find it and get it in the back of the net to give the Bobcats a two goal advantage. With around two minute left the lights on the field went out, and after being turned back on, STU went on to win the game 3-1.
