MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (September 7, 2023)- The St. Thomas University (STU) Football team is set for their longest road trip in history. The Bobcats travel to Carroll College in Helena, Montana. This is a top 15 matchup, as the Fighting Saints are ranked #15 and the Bobcats check in at #14.

Last week STU lost a heartbreaker in DeLand, taking Division 1 Stetson to overtime and losing by one point. The offense took some time to get going, but in the second half came out with fire, catching the Hatters defense on their heels. Rontavious Farmer had a monster game, rushing for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Both Ty'Quan Wiggins and Keely Watson saw snaps under center, but when Wiggins entered the game in the second half he went 12 for 17 with 166 passing yards along with 2 rushing touchdowns.

The always strong defense for the Bobcats was on full display once again. Corner Kaleb Wilson had one of his best games in a STU uniform, racking in 10 total tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass break up. The big guys in the trenches although banged up and missing some key guys, did their part in efforts to walk away with the upset. Game wrecker Nicholas Engler was unblock able, with 4 tackles, 3 for a loss, and a sack.

Carroll College already picked up a rank win, beating #16 Montana Tech last week in week one. The Fighting Saint QB Jack Prka threw for 160 yards and was 18 for 31. Prka can also get it done on his feet, with a rushing touchdown. Running back Duncan Craft tallied 92 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, Carroll can get in the back field with their big guys up front. Linebacker Nick Anderson had 6 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and a sack. Linebacker Hunter Peck wasn't far behind with 5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, also having a sack.

This is a tough early season matchup for the Bobcats in what will be back to back top 25 games. After the bye week next week, STU will travel once again and take on #21 Texas Wesleyan.
