MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 16, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team returns to the Fernandez Family Center tomorrow, to take on the Southeastern Fire. The Bobcats are coming off a big win against Warner on the road, and will look for another win in front of their home crowd.
Â
The Bobcats secure the must need win over the Royals with a strong effort from multiple guys.
Josh Taylor got his first double-double as a Bobcat, with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Jordan Hernandez made a difference behind the arch going 3-5, and finishing the game with 15 points and eight rebounds. Like previously said if the Bobcats mix it up and drive to the bucket it will make a difference.
Daniel Ogoro did just that, with 15 points and driving to the rim for many of them.
Milton Matthews leads the NAIA in three pointers per game (4.1).
Â
The Fire are a scrappy team. They always seem to play the Bobcats tough no matter who is on the team. Seeing the Fire in action early in the season at the SUN/SSAC Crossover, they beat a good Mobile team who went on the beat STU. Just like the Bobcats the Fire sit at 1-2 in the Sun Conference, coming off a win against Webber International 74-70. Makai Vassell is a guy to watch out for, as he is the leading scorer with 255 points averaging 15.9 points per game. Reggie Mesidor is their go to three point shooter. Mesidor is 21-65 from behind the arch, and has the highest points per game average on the team (16.4). Â
