(RV) Women’s Basketball to Face Keiser on the Road Before Hosting Webber

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 23, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team is set to head to Keiser University this week prior to hosting Webber International University. The Bobcats are currently leading the Sun Conference with an overall record of 14-4 and a conference record of 4-1. 

The Bobcats will first face Keiser University on Wednesday, January 24th at 5:30 p.m. in West Palm Beach, Fla. The Seahawks are currently 11-8 overall and 3-2 in Sun Conference play, falling to Southeastern University and Warner University. In their last meeting in 2023, the Bobcats defeated the Seahawks on the road in overtime, 81-79. St. Thomas defeated Keiser once more, earlier in the 2022-23 season at home, 82-53. The Bobcats will face the Seahawks for the second time on Wednesday, February 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the Fernandez Family Center. 

After traveling North, the Bobcats will return home to host Webber International University for the first time this season on Saturday, January 27th at 2 p.m. The Warriors are currently 5-11 overall this season and 3-2 in Sun Conference play. Webber fell to both Southeastern and Keiser in their first-round match ups, defeating Warner, College of Coastal Georgia, and Florida Memorial University. The Bobcats went 1-1 against the Warriors in the 2022-23 season, defeating them once at home and falling to them on the road in their most recent meeting. St. Thomas will travel to Babson Park, Fla. To face the Warriors once more in regular season play on Saturday, February 24th at 2 p.m. 

Next week, the Bobcats will have one Sun Conference match up against the College of Coastal Georgia on Saturday, February 3rd, at 2 p.m. 

PLAYERS TO WATCH 

  • Bria Brown had two double digit performances in the Bobcats most recent games against Southeastern and Ave Maria University, scoring 10 points against both opponents. Brown is currently the third-leading scorer for the Bobcats this season with 179 points. 

  • Brooke Bogatz had a double-double performance last week against Ave Maria, scoring 20 points and notching 12 rebounds against the Gyrenes. Bogatz currently leads the team in scoring and assists with 293 points and 78 assists. 

  • Sophie Vandyke also had a double-double performance in week three of Sun Conference play, recording 12 points against Southeastern and 10 rebounds. Vandyke currently has 100 points this season and 120 rebounds.
