WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (January 24, 2024) - The (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team faced off against Keiser University in a tight battle on Wednesday evening. The Bobcats traveled north to match up against the Seahawks, falling to them 56-70.
The first quarter saw Brooke Bogatz leading the charge for the Bobcats, scoring seven points against the Seahawks. Sophie Vandyke also had a standout performance in quarter one, notching four rebounds, contributing to her total of nine. The Bobcats led by one point heading into quarter two, 14-13.
In the second quarter, Paige McDonald dominated the boards for the Bobcats, putting up seven points, contributing to her 15-point total against the Seahawks. Marta Franco was also a key player in quarter two, recording five points and three rebounds. The Bobcats kept the one-point lead against the Seahawks heading into the intermission, leading 28-27.
Despite the Bobcats determination and drive, the Seahawks took the lead in quarter three. Keiser outscored the Bobcats in the third quarter, 11-27. The Seahawks held the lead, 39-54.
The Bobcats continued to fight, outscoring the Seahawks in the final quarter, 17-16. Camilla Flefil put up six points in quarter four, finishing the game with eight. Franco added four more points to her double-digit total of 11. Despite the closing in on the Seahawks, St. Thomas ultimately fell to Keiser 56-70.
Up next, the Bobcats will host Webber International University for the first time this season on Saturday, January 27th at 2 p.m.
