MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 27, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team defeated the Webber International Warriors in dominating fashion inside the Fernandez Family Center. This is the Bobcats second straight win over two very good Sun Conference teams in Webber and Keiser.
The St. Thomas Bobcats started the game strong with an early lead against the Webber International Warriors.
Josh Taylor made an impressive jumper, assisted by
Daniel Ogoro, giving the Bobcats an early 2-0 lead.
Cearius Warren extended the lead with two successful free throws after a foul by the Warriors.
Webber International responded with a good layup, cutting the Bobcats' lead to 4-2.
Josh Taylor continued to shine with another jumper, assisted by
Jordan Hernandez, pushing the lead to 6-2. The Bobcats maintained their defensive efforts, blocking attempts by the Warriors, particularly a block by Warren.
The Warriors hot a 3-pointer, but the Bobcats answered back with a good tip-in by Warren. The first half showcased a competitive exchange between the two teams, with St. Thomas consistently building their lead.
Milton Matthews and
Josh Taylor added crucial points for the Bobcats late in the half.
As the half progressed, the Bobcats displayed a strong defensive presence, stealing the ball and causing turnovers. St. Thomas continued to dominate with key plays from Taylor, Matthews, and
Anthony Harris. The first half concluded with a comfortable lead for the Bobcats, who executed well on both ends of the court.
The second half began with the Bobcats maintaining their momentum.

As the second half progressed, the Bobcats displayed depth in their roster with effective substitutions by Coach.
Josh Taylor, once again, showcased his scoring ability, and Ogoro, along with Harris, contributed to the offensive onslaught.
The Webber International Warriors, led by Eden Holt and O'Callagan, tried to mount a comeback, but St. Thomas responded with well-executed plays. The game featured notable moments, including a dunk by Warren and key free throws by Taylor and Hernandez.
Despite the Warriors' efforts, the Bobcats maintained control, with Taylor, Harris, and Hernandez securing crucial points. The game concluded with a dominant performance by St. Thomas, showcasing their skill, teamwork, and strong defensive play winning 84-64.
