(RV) Bobcats to Host Coastal Georgia to Kick Off Second Round of Conference Play

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 30, 2024) - Round two of Sun Conference play begins this week and the (RV) St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team is preparing for their second match up against the College of Coastal Georgia. The Bobcats currently sit at second place in the conference with an overall record of 15-5 and a Sun Conference record of 5-2. 

The Bobcats will face the Mariners for the second time this season, this time at home in the Fernandez Family Center. In their last meeting, the Bobcats defeated the Mariners 73-64.   St. Thomas has a series record of 12-4 against the Mariners, with a home record of 6-1. Coastal Georgia is currently 6-12 overall this season and 1-6 in conference play, defeating Florida Memorial University. The game will take place on Saturday, February 3rd at 2 p.m.

PLAYERS TO WATCH 

  • In their last meeting, Brooke Bogatz scored 22 points against the Mariners. Bogatz has scored 317 points this season, leading the team in scoring, and notching two double-digit performances in the past two games. 

  • Paige McDonald had another double-digit week last week, putting up 15 points against Keiser University and 16 points against Webber International University. McDonald is the second-leading scorer for the Bobcats this season with 215 points. 

  • Marta Franco also had a standout performance last week, notching two double-digit games of her own. Franco led the charge against Webber with 18 points, five blocks, five rebounds, and six rebounds. 

Up next, the Bobcats will take on Florida Memorial University on the road for round two of the Battle of Miami Gardens before hosting Warner University
