MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (October 23, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Soccer team defeated New College of Florida on Wednesday evening in their inaugural match up, with a score of 1-0. Natalie Woodward picked up the lone goal for the Bobcats, securing the win and bringing their overall record to 6-2-4 and their Sun Conference record to 4-2-1.

The first half of the match started strong, the Bobcats trying to find the back of the net every shot they got. It wasn't until late in the first half where the first goal was scored. Natalie Woodward was able to shoot one past the Mighty Banyan's goalkeeper to put the Bobcats on the board and earn her first goal of the season. Gabi Cimino notched the assist on the goal, her fourth of the season.

The second half saw the Bobcats with majority of the possession, notching 17 shots compared to New College's four. The Bobcats held the lead for the rest of the match up, securing the 1-0 win. Cimino finished the game with 10 shots for the Bobcats, while Megan Velazquez was closely behind with 6. Isabella Penaranda also notched another shut out, picking up three saves.
