Second Half Surge Leads Bobcats to Victory Over Warner

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (February 10, 2024) - The St. Thomas University (STU) Women's Basketball team faced off against Warner University on Saturday afternoon, defeating them 83-55. The Bobcats swept the series against the Royals, bringing their record to 18-5 overall and 7-2 in Sun Conference play. 

The Bobcats had a tough start to the match, the Royals outscoring them 17-21 in the first quarter. Brooke Bogatz led the charge with six points in quarter one, followed by Ra'Nae Tumblin with five.  

St. Thomas outscored Warner 17-16 in quarter two, but they were unable to take the lead heading into halftime. Bogatz put up another six points, while Vandyke notched four. The score was 34-37 heading into the intermission. 

The Bobcats went on a 24-6 run in the 3rd quarter, starting off with a jump shot from Bria Brown. Brown went on to score eight points in the third. Bogatz added nine more to her tally, scoring with 100% accuracy in quarter three. The Bobcats led 58-43 heading into the last quarter of the game. 

St. Thomas kept the lead until the buzzer sounded. The Bobcats put up another 25 points in quarter four, holding the Royals to only 12 points. Paige McDonald added seven points to the scoreboard while Vandyke added another five. The Bobcats finished the game with a 28-point lead, defeating the Royals 83-55. Three Bobcats ended the match up in double figures, Bogatz with 24 points, Flefil with 12, and Vandyke with 11.  

Up next, the Bobcats will head to Lakeland, Fla. to face Southeastern University for their second meeting of the season.
