Tucker Places Third Overall to Lead Bobcats to Fourth Place Finish

LAKELAND, Fla. (February 17, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Wrestling team finished the AAC Conference Tournament in fourth out of twelve teams. The Bobcats were led by Kahlil Tucker, who place third overall in the 133 lb division.
 
 
Starting in the 125 lb division, Conner Hueck wrestled admirably, finishing with a 2-2 record and securing fourth place. He showcased his skills with a swift victory by fall in just 59 seconds and followed it up with a well-earned decision win of 5-1.
 
Moving up to the 133 lb weight class, Kahlil Tucker had a standout day, clinching third place with a 3-1 record. His victories included a hard-fought decision win of 4-2, a dominant major decision of 14-2, and a convincing tech fall in the third-place match.
 
Thomas Williams represented the Bobcats in the 141 lb division, finishing fifth with a record of 3-2. He displayed versatility in his wins, securing victories by decision, fall, and tech fall throughout the tournament.
 
In the 149 lb weight class, Noah Horst put on a solid performance, earning fourth place with a 3-2 record. He demonstrated his prowess with a quick fall at 2:46, a strategic 5-2 decision, and a commanding tech fall.
 
JJ Contreras competed in the 157 lb class, finishing fifth with a record of 3-3. He secured victories with two impressive tech falls and a hard-fought 5-3 decision win.
 
Sennai Heyliger represented the Bobcats in the 165 lb division, finishing with a 2-3 record. He showcased his skills with wins by major decision and decision, highlighting his resilience on the mat.
 
In the 197 lb division, Jairo Caceres had a solid showing, earning fifth place with a 4-2 record. His victories included two dominant major decisions and a convincing tech fall, demonstrating his strength and skill in his weight class.
 
Overall, the St. Thomas Bobcats wrestlers showed determination and skill throughout the tournament, with each wrestler contributing to the team's success with their individual performances.
