STU Returns Home Next Week to Host Sun Conference Tournament After Dropping Game to Warriors

Babson Park, Fla. (February 24, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Men's Basketball team dropped their last regular season game to Webber International 77-61. The Bobcats will return home next weekend to host the Sun Conference Tournament inside the Fernandez Family Center.

In the first half of the opening half, the Bobcats faced some initial struggles, shooting three for 12 from the field, with Milton Matthews, Josh Taylor, and Daniel Ogoro contributing to the scoreboard with three, three, and two points respectively. Despite a relatively low shooting percentage, the Bobcats managed to capitalize on their defensive efforts, recording three steals while limiting turnovers to two.

As the game progressed into the second half of the opening half, both teams matched each other closely, each tallying 21 points apiece. St. Thomas maintained their shooting accuracy, going three for 12 from the field once again, with Milton Matthews, Josh Taylor, and Daniel Ogoro replicating their first-half contributions.

However, in the second half, the Bobcats faced a formidable challenge as they struggled to keep pace with their opponents. With STU already securing first place and preparing to host, the Bobcats adjusted their strategy, providing rest opportunities for key players. Despite their efforts, the Bobcats couldn't narrow the gap, ultimately falling short in the game.

In the latter half of the game, St. Thomas faced difficulties on both ends of the court, shooting 11 for 26 from the field. However, they managed to find some success from beyond the arc, converting four of 12 three-point attempts. Caelum Ethridge led the scoring charge with 10 points, supported by contributions from Milton Matthews, Kyle Feldman, Surge Du lau d'Allem, Jeremy Arnum, Cearius Warren, Josh Taylor, Stipe Sokol, and Sami Rahman. Despite the loss, the Bobcats demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the game, showcasing their depth and versatility as they prepare for the upcoming playoffs.
