Bobcats Sweep Seahawks and Win Seven Straight Sun Conference Games

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 30, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) Baseball team defeated the Keiser Seahawks in four straight, to start Sun Conference play 7-1. The Bobcats run ruled the Seahawks in game four, and were led by Jamie Gonzalez who went all seven only giving up five hits. STU returns home on April first for a matchup against NCAA D2 Lynn at 5 p.m.
 
Game One
 
1st Inning
  • In the bottom of the first Keiser jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
3rd Inning
  • The game stayed the same until the top of the third where the Bobcats were able to make in a one run game, thanks to an Angelo Piloto single that brought two home. KU 3-2
4th Inning
  • The Seahawks added two more in the fourth to extend their lead 5-2.
5th Inning 7th Inning 8th Inning
  • With Luis Rodriguez on, Robin Fernandez doubled to right center to swap places with him at second. STU 9-5
  • Yoel Rojas brought Fernandez home with a single. STU 10-5
  • Kesier would add two more in the bottom of the eighth, but the final score would be 10-7 Bobcats.
 
Game Two
 
2nd Inning
  • Christopher Estrada singled to center, and Alan Caretta stepped in the box and blasted a homer to left center to give the Bobcats the early 2-0 lead.
  • Keiser however responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the second to tie the game at two.
5th Inning 6th Inning 7th Inning
  • Kesier would try an amount a comeback, by adding a run in the bottom of the seventh but it wouldn't be enough.
 
Game Three
 
1st Inning
  • With three Bobcats on, Angelo Piloto hit a single to give STU a 2-0 lead early.
2nd Inning
  • With Matt Granato on, Kendry Noriega knocked a single to extend the STU lead to 3-0.
  • In the bottom of the second, the Seahawks tied the game at three.
4th Inning
  • Keiser made it a two-run game in the fourth. KU 5-3
5th Inning
  • Lucas Lopez started the scoring in the fifth with a single, scoring Piloto. KU 5-4
  • Matt Granato then singled up the middle bringing home Caretta and Fernandez. STU 6-5
  • Kendry Noriega hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring Lopez home. STU 7-5
6th Inning
  • Keiser added on more to make it a one run game, but STU would maintain the lead and walk away with the 7-6 victory.
 
Game Four
 
3rd Inning
  • After getting on with a double, Matt Granato was able to work around the bases and score on a wild pitch. STU 1-0
4th Inning
  • Angelo Piloto opened the fourth inning with a moonshot to center field. STU 2-0
6th Inning 7th Inning
  • With Caretta on, Lucas Lopez tripled down the line to score him. STU 8-0
  • Lopez scored on a sac fly from Christopher Schoeller. STU 9-0
  • Kendry Noriega hit a two run bomb down the left field line making it 11-0 for the final for STU.
