Miami Gardens, Fla. – The Sun Conference announced its Weekly Award winners on Monday, with all five St. Thomas programs eligible earning recognition via
Payton Bertke's fourth-straight Setter of the Week,
Isabella Marty and
Martin Ahlstrom claiming the Cross Country Runners of the Week plaudits and
Rebecca Louis and
Rodrigo de la Terga sweeping the Soccer Defensive Player of the Week nods.
Bertke earned her fourth-straight Setter of the Week accolade after posting back-to-back 39 assist showings in a pair of 3-0 wins for the 10th-ranked volleyball program, adding seven digs and seven kills. Her 10.84 assist per game average ranks fifth in the NAIA.
Marty and Ahlstrom both recorded third-place finishes at the Bobcat Invitational, with Marty completing her 5K race at the 20:35.5 mark while Ahlstrom ran a 26:58.5 8K to lead the Men's Cross Country team to a first-place team finish ahead of NCAA Division II's Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic.
Terga allowed no goals over two games for the No. 1 Men's Soccer team, stopping eight shots during the Bobcats' 2-0 victory over Webber International and 1-0 triumph at Florida Memorial. His 0.36 goals allowed average ranks 11th in the NAIA.
Louis anchored the defensive line for the Women's Soccer team in a pair of come-from behind victories, keeping Webber International and Florida Memorial off the scoreboard after taking early 1-0 leads in 4-1 and 2-1 Sun Conference triumphs.
