MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (September 7, 2024) – The St. Thomas University (STU) football team demolished the #22 ranked Louisiana Christian Wildcats in their first game of the season after last week was postponed.
Rontavious Farmer was as advertised, with 130 yards on the ground, and three touchdowns. The Bobcats found great production on offense as everything was clicking for
Keely Watson and his receivers. STU also had lockdown defense with four sacks as a team and
Caleb Walker with two interceptions. This would overwhelm the Wildcats and result in a 56-10 victory for the Bobcats.
From the outset, the Bobcats made their presence felt. On their opening drive,
Rontavious Farmer burst through for a 20-yard touchdown run, with
Zachary Alvarez adding the extra point. Farmer struck again less than five minutes later with a 1-yard touchdown run after a quick four play drive. STU continued their offensive onslaught as
Keely Watson capped a 58-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run of his own.
Caleb Walker then contributed to the scoring frenzy with a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown, putting the Bobcats ahead 28-0 by the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw St. Thomas maintain their momentum. Farm showcased his big-play ability once more with a 42-yard touchdown run. Watson connected with
David Hayes on a 24-yard touchdown pass, further extending the Bobcats' lead. Louisiana Christian managed to get on the scoreboard with a 47-yard touchdown pass. However, St. Thomas answered with a methodical 87-yard drive, culminating in a 24-yard touchdown pass from Watson to
Jason Bourciquot.
In the third quarter, the Bobcats capped of their day with a 2-yard touchdown run by
Reggie Foster, sealing the game with a final score of 56-10. The Bobcats' offense was relentless throughout, while their defense effectively neutralized Louisiana Christian's efforts. The result was a decisive and impressive win for St. Thomas in week two of the 2024 season.
