Walker Becomes Winningest Coach After Warner Win

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (January 11, 2025) - The Bobcats earned another Sun Conference victory on Saturday afternoon against Warner University, defeating them 66-55. This win brings the Bobcats conference record to 4-1, and makes Head Coach Candace Walker the winningest coach in STU Women's Basketball program history with an overall record of 134-81.

"I am deeply honored, but this achievement is far from a solo effort," Coach Walker said, when asked about becoming the winningest coach in program history. "My sincere thanks to the past and present leaders and administrators of the University and the STU Athletic Department for their unwavering support and the opportunities they've provided. Most importantly, I am truly grateful to all of my coaches and every player who has been a part of this journey. This success is a reflection of the incredible teamwork and dedication of everyone involved."

The Royals were the first on the board, holding the Bobcats off for the first few minutes. Joey Delancy led St. Thomas with six points in the first quarter, followed by Maddie Scharrenberg with five. Sophie Vandyke and Jasmine Worthy each notched four rebounds. The Bobcats managed to take the lead after a lot of back-and-forth, heading into quarter two up 17-15. St. Thomas maintained the lead into the fourth, with Samantha Vales adding nine points to the Bobcats' tally. Worthy added five more points, finishing with another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
