MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA (JANUARY 15, 2025) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats fell to the Florida Memorial University Lions (RV) on Wednesday night by a final score of 57-61
In a packed gym, both teams displayed an excellent level of basketball from both sides of the court, with high flying dunks and blocks that had the crowd going into a frenzy in all 40 minutes of play.
The Bobcats displayed a strong ability to shoot the basketball with a strong 48.8% from the field and a stellar 42.1% from beyond the arc.
The two teams traded blows all throughout the game, only allowing two lead changes, along with 7 ties.
The men played well in crunch time, led by Noah Tovar's 13 points from all around the court.
Daniel Ogoro, and Esteban Lluberes also had solid performances, with 10 and 11 points, respectively
.
As many basketball games are decided in the final two minutes, this one was no different. The Bobcats unfortunately missed opportunities as time dwindled down with both teams dropping their field goal percentage in a closely fought game.
The Bobcats led 55-50 with 5:52 remaining and had chances to extend their lead but strong defense from the Lions affected their ability to score.
Despite the loss, the squad played some of their best basketball all season, playing as a complete team and securing 33 rebounds with a strong defensive performance.
The men will travel to Ave Maria to face the Gyrenes on Saturday.
Tip off is set for 4pm.
