Bobcats Fall to #15 Seahawks at Home

The St. Thomas University men's basketball team dropped their contest vs #15 Keiser University Seahawks.

The St. Thomas University Bobcats came up short on the road against the #15 Keiser University Seahawks, losing 82-74 in a tightly contested game. Despite a strong individual performance by grand  forward Daniel Ogoro, who dropped 23 points, the Bobcats were unable to overcome the Seahawks' offensive firepower and aggressive defense.

St. Thomas (10-9) was off to a strong start in the first half, shooting 42.3% from the field and keeping the game competitive. Ogoro's performance was a highlight, as he knocked down 7 of his 11 shots, including 3 of 4 from deep, and also contributed 6 rebounds and 2 assists. The Bobcats ended the first half trailing by just 6 points, 40-34, after shooting 40% from beyond the arc.

However, the second half saw the Seahawks (16-3) turn up the intensity. While the Bobcats managed to shoot 45.5% in the second half, they struggled to break through Keiser's defense. The Seahawks were efficient on both ends of the floor, led by Chris Roth  who finished with 17 points, and Calvin Sirmans, who contributed with 12 points.

Keiser's defense became more suffocating as the game wore on, and the Bobcats were forced to take contested shots, including some from beyond the arc, where they were 11-25 overall (44%) on the
night. Despite solid efforts from Dalon Dean, who had 12 points, and Cearius Warren, who chipped in 7 points and 4 rebounds, the Bobcats were unable to gain much ground in the closing minutes.

The Bobcats were also hurt by turnovers, committing 17 for the game, which Keiser capitalized on to run their offense efficiently. On the flip side, the Seahawks made the most of their opportunities, converting on key possessions and controlling the pace of the game.

St. Thomas will now look to bounce back in their next game, facing off  Webber University on Wednesday, January 29 in Babson Park, FL.

Tip off is set for 7PM.
