Men's Volleyball Concludes Play In Pirate Invitational With Sweep Of Central Christian

Parkville, Mo. – Riding the momentum of their first victory in program history on Friday evening, the St. Thomas Men's Volleyball team held Central Christian College to a .056 hitting percentage in the opening set en route to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-5) 
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Set 1 – STU broke a 3-3 stalemate to start the match with seven-straight points and kept the lead for the duration of the frame, creating a double-digit separation at 15-5. 

  • Set 2 – After splitting the opening 12 points of the second set, STU scored four-straight to pull ahead while holding their opposition without a run of consecutive points until back-to-back tallies made it 18-10 in favor of the Bobcats. 

  • Set 3 – The Bobcats responded to a Central Christian point to start the third set with four-straight and kept the lead for the rest of the match. 


NOTEWORTHY: 

  • Javaun Thomas paced the offense behind nine kills on a .471 hitting percentage while adding five digs. 

  • Murilo Hauari served four aces on top of four assisted blocks. 


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • STU finished the match with 34 kills on a .518 hitting percentage versus 12 kills on a -.109 clip for Central Christian. 

  • St. Thomas served 11 aces versus four for Central Christian.  

  • The Bobcats logged eight assisted blocks, CCC recorded two solo and four assisted. 

  • STU held a 19-12 advantage in digs.
