MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Fueled by double-digit kills from Raya Mlyakova and Alexandra Bruno on Wednesday evening, the 12th ranked St. Thomas University Women's Volleyball Team swept visiting Ave Maria University (25-20, 25-16, 25-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• STU withstood an aggressive start by the visitors that gave them an early 5-0 lead, taking the lead during a 5-0 run that made it 14-11 and held the visitors without a run of consecutive points until a late 3-0 rally made it 20-18.  

• Holding an early one-point lead in the second frame at 5-4, the Bobcats scored three-straight to pull ahead 8-4 while holding the Gyrenes without a run greater than three for the entire set. 

• The Bobcats scored the opening four points of the thirid set and never trailed in the stanza. 

NOTEWORTHY: 

• Mlyakova boasted 11 kills on a .385 hitting percentage on top of two assisted blocks and six digs. 

• Bruno added 10 kills on a .381 clip with nine digs. 

• Payton Bertke dished out 37 assists alongside six digs and four service aces. 

• Carolina Cruz added 11 digs. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

• The Bobcats ended the match with 43 kills on a .389 hitting percentage, AMU tallied 31 on a .134 clip. 

• STU served 12. aces while the visitors logged two. 

• St. Thomas recorded one solo block and eight assisted blocks versus two assisted for Ave Maria. 

• The Bobcats held a 41-36 advantage in digs.
