Offensive Boom Propels Women's Volleyball To 3-1 Victory Over Florida College

Miami Gardens, Fla. – Fueled by a .429 hitting percentage on Thursday evening, the 14t ranked St. Thomas Women's Volleyball Team defeated visiting Florida College 3-1 (25-12, 19-25, 25-9, 25-15)

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Bobcats scored the opening two points of the match, and nine of the initial 11, to quickly create a 9-2 lead and kept the advantage for the entire first set. 

  • After trading the opening 28 points of the second set, Florida College used a 4-0 run to take an 18-14 lead and held the Bobcats without a run greater than two down the stretch to hold onto the lead. 

  • STU never trailed in the third set, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before quickly taking a double-digit advantage at 15-5. 

  • St. Thomas jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the fourth set and kept the separation above four for the duration of the match. 

NOTEWORTHY: 

  • Ranya Mehta led the offense behind 13 kills on a .522 hitting percentage with six assisted blocks. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • The Bobcats ended the match with 53 kills on a .429 hitting percentage, Florida College tallied 39 on a .102 clip. 

  • STU served 10 aces while the visitors logged sevene 

  • St. Thomas recorded three solo blocks and 14 assisted blocks versus two solo and two assisted for the Falcons.
