LAKELAND, FLA (FEBRUARY 5, 2025) - The St. Thomas University Bobcats secured a hard-fought 82-71 victory over the Southeastern University Fire on Wednesday night at The Furnace, using efficient shooting and strong rebounding to take control of the contest.
The Bobcats showcased a balanced offensive attack, with five players scoring in double figures. Cearius Warren led the way with an impressive 19-point performance on 9-of-11 shooting, while Sean Shore contributed 16 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Dalon Dean added 15 points, and both Esteban Lluberes and Daniel Ogoro chipped in 10 apiece, with Ogoro also hauling in 10 rebounds for a double-double.
St. Thomas shot a solid 50% from the field (29-of-58) and connected on 47.4% (9-of-19) of their three-point attempts, providing an offensive efficiency that Southeastern struggled to match. The Bobcats also dominated on the glass, out - rebounding the Fire 39-35, including 13 offensive boards that led to key second-chance points.
On the other side, Southeastern was paced by Joshua Blazquez, who scored a game-high 21 points, but the Fire struggled from deep, hitting just 7-of-27 (25.9%) from three-point range. Derek Murphy added 17 points, while Kyonte Thomas contributed 12, but their efforts weren't enough to overcome St. Thomas' consistent offensive execution.
The game remained competitive through the first half, with the Bobcats going into the locker room with a 12 point deficit. However, a strong second-half performance—highlighted by clutch perimeter shooting and efficient ball movement—allowed St. Thomas to pull away and seal the victory.
With the win, the Bobcats continue to build momentum as they look ahead to their next matchup on Wednesday, February 12, at Warner University.
