Men's Volleyball Outlasts Warner In 3-1 Victory

Miami Gardens, Fla. - Kaelen Ingram and Matheus Collares demonstrated why they were named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Players of the Week on Wednesday evening behind 18 kills and 53 assists respectively, powering the St. Thomas University Men's Volleyball Team to a 3-1 (25-18, 25-13, 23-25, 25-17) Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) victory 

 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Set 1 – After trading points to start the match, STU scored three-straight to pull ahead while keeping the lead above two for the duration of the frame. 

  • Set 2 – The Bobcats raced out to an early 4-0 advantage and never trailed in the second set. 

  • Set 3 – STU flipped a late 20-19 deficit off back-to-back points to take a one-point lead, only for a 3-0 response by Warner propelling them to a 23-21 advantage. The Royals held STU without a run of consecutive points for the rest of the frame. 

  • Set 4 – The Bobcats sccored the opening three points of the fourth set and kept the lead above two for the entire stanza. 

 
NOTEWORTHY:

  • Ingram boasted a .500 hitting percentage while adding five digs and two assisted blocks. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • STU finished the match with 60 kills on a .397 hitting percentage versus 40 kills on a .164 clip for the Royals. 

  • St. Thomas served three aces versus five for Warner  

  • The Bobcats logged two solo blocks and 10 assisted blocks, Warner recorded 10 assisted. 

  • STU held a 46-38 advantage in digs.
